As some of the regular readers have seen, there has been a regular guest reviewer for the site who really has helped me out since the get go. From getting my name out across the boards and twitter to assisting me with new ideas and possibilities within the site. Without dragging on too much, Jacob Krell has been a great friend, awesome BOTL and an overall very stand up guy. I would like to announce his acceptance of a role as an official reviewer for The Cigar Nut. Onto a short bio from Jacob himself.
David has been kind enough to extend a generous offer of becoming a regular contributing member of his wonderful website. So it is only fitting that I give a proper introduction of myself. My name is Jake and I live in the Kansas City Metro area. I am 36 years old and currently a railroad conductor and independent sales rep for 262 Cigars. My very first cigar review was of the 262 Paradigm right here on this website. 262 Cigars thought highly of my review and I loved the cigar. I had the dream of finding a career in the cigar industry and after that review I landed my foot in the door with this great company. In a few years I hope to be able to quit my “day” job and work for 262 Cigars full time. I served in the United States Army and spent 11 years in law enforcement.
I am married and have 4 wonderful kids ranging from 10 months to 14 years old. My wife is a Registered Veterinary Technician but currently stays home as a full time mom. She is very supportive of cigars and even smokes with me on occasion. We have a Golden Retriever named Macy that we rescued after someone dumped in the woods. My family is my world and I spend every minute I can with them.
I was probably 18 when I started smoking cigars. Like a typical young guy I would go out partying and stop at the gas station and get a cigar and bottle of Boone’s Farm to finish the night. Like most guys I talk to who have tried a cigar and do not like them this is the same way they got started in cigars. I always try to explain to them that this is the wrong way to start. Lucky for me I did not let those gas station dog rockets turn me away from cigars. In 2004 I was gifted a cigar from Cuba and it led me to get serious about cigars. I bought a humidor and samplers to get myself started. As the years went on I started to learn more about cigars and the proper care for them. Even to this day I am still learning. I have brought many new people to cigars my sharing with them and educating them away from gas station and liquor store cigars. It is amazing to look at where I started to where I am now in my cigar hobby.
I will not say I am any kind of cigar aficionado or expert. I am a regular guy who loves cigars. I write my reviews and base them on my honest opinion which is what you will always get. I got started writing reviews when David asked me to do a guest review. We met on Twitter where I was heavily promoting this website because I liked it so much. If you follow me on Twitter you will see I like to promote things I enjoy like the bands Sevendust and Digital Summer, Xbox 360 (CGAR Clan!!), various cigars, and other cigar review websites. I always enjoy reading your comments and feedback.
Thanks again Jacob!
