Tatuaje Anarchy

Behind The Smoke:

I was one of the lucky sites that was gifted a pair of these Tatuaje Anarchy cigars from Smoke Inn and again I have to say to them again, thank you- a creation from both Pete and Pepin although from the documentation I have found the original thought came from Abe Dababneh of Smoke Inn. Along with the star cast involved in creation, these cigars have had quite a bit of hype revolving around them for the past few months. I joined the mailing list the first day the Anarchy site was announced and tracked the story of it crossing around the world, waiting for a chance to try one for myself. After the advertising, great response and the remark they ‘struck gold’ the Tatuaje Anarchy is finally in my hands, ready to be sacrificed to the review table!

Construction:

Right away you see this cigar has a unique shape, a dark wrapper and a unique head. The later being the pig tail head which unlike some pig tails I have seen, this head is fully covered by the twisted tobacco and is well secured ensuring a guillotine cut requirement. The wrapper gave off just the right amount of oils in my opinion, enough to give it a slight shine but not deep enough to cause concern for the burn. One stick was evenly packed head to foot while the second had a bit more give towards the mid section but both performed without issue.

Flavor:

From the get go this cigar tastes great but kept me guessing as to what the flavors were going to be next. Leather and dark coffee flavors began the smoke with just a hint of spice – not quite a black pepper “in the nose spice” but almost a vegetable pepper “heat” spice that left a pleasant tingle on my lips. It took a little for the flavors to really kick into gear but once I crested the 1st third I was greeted with a handful of rich and wonderful flavors. Chocolate and coffee took the main stage, cinnamon, leather, cedar, earth and a wild kind of woody flavor paired one another in a way I can’t describe other than great. A few sweet flavors came and went but I was not able to get any specific ‘hey it tastes like …’ but then again I’m not one with a huge sweet tooth. As both cigars neared the end of their lives, a metallic ‘tangy’ flavor really became apparent which required me to put them down with about 3/4″ to an inch left.

Tatuaje Anarchy

Overall:

I’m really impressed at how well these cigars are – rarely do I buy into the hype and to be honest I looked at these with a little less enthusiasm than I had expected after reading and hearing so much about them. Boy was I wrong – Pete, Pepin and Abe really did ‘strike gold’ in my thoughts with the Tatuaje Anarchy – great flavors with perfect construction that lasted right about an hour and a half – are you kidding me?! These are fantastic. From what I can gather there are only 1500 boxes of these, so they will be a limited production smoke but I think even for 10.00 or so a pop, these would easily be a 10 pack to a box purchase. The reason I say that is that although they smoked great now I can only imagine how they will be in 6 months to a year – a wise decision to grab some now and rest a few others. Don’t take my word on it, grab a single or a pair and give them a shot for yourself!

Yeah, those things looked pretty tasty, but after spending too much on the Barclay Rex Tatuaje release I decided against buying this one. Might have to track a 5’er down though.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
